essential 01: reading tab and rhythm

Although reading music is not essential for some more modern guitar styles, tab reading is essential and rhythm reading ability is beneficial.

Learn the names of the strings then try to learn the names of the notes in the first scales.

Also try some single string tunes in the level 1 section and some melodies in the tabs section.
